FAQ’s about SHR hair removal:

When is it possible to carry out the procedure?

Removal of hair (SHR Hair removal) is possible only in an active hair growth phase (an anogenic phase). In this phase concentration of melanin is the highest and connection of a hair with its root is stronger. About one third of body hair is in this phase, so during the procedure about 20 percent of hair roots are removed.

How many procedures will I need?

For the best results, we recommend you have between 6 and 8 treatments, with a gap of 4 to 8 weeks between each procedure. Of course it is necessary to consider that it depends on the density, colour and the number of hairs which are in an active growth phase. The number of required procedures varies from each individual.

How long does each procedure take?

The procedure can last several minutes when processing an upper lip, half an hour for a shin and more than an hour for the whole body.

Does skin colour matter for a successful procedure?

In difference from the IPL method the SHR method suits all skin types, even suntanned.

What is it necessary to pay attention to before and after the procedure?

Irrespective of what method you will choose, IPL or SHR, two weeks prior to a procedure hair shouldn’t be removed by hair epilator, any hair removal tools or wax in order not to destroy the connection between a hair and its root. The procedure is carried out on shaved skin.

Prior to a procedure don’t use body cream or deodorant. It is recommended to apply skin lotion after the procedure as some skin irritation may occur.

Important: In days prior to a procedure drink a lot of liquid in the form of water. It is not recommended to be in the sun or visit sunbeds several days before the session. Swimming, a sauna and hot baths also shouldn’t be taken after the procedure. They are additional irritants which can cause further reddenings or skin itching.

Depending on skin type some skin reddening or swelling may occur. These are normal reactions and a sign of the fact that the procedure has taken place effectively, and usually disappear during short time. Taking of certain medicines causing photoallergic and phototoxic reactions has to be discussed prior to a procedure. Tattoos have to be carefully covered to avoid danger of their destruction.

Is there a guarantee of hair removal forever?

A person has more than one million hair follicles, a high percentage of which is always in an inactive state. Even after the taken session there is a probability of initiation of hair growth on the areas of a body that are already have been processed and freed from hair as a result of hormonal changes, pregnancy, climacteric period or aging. Thus nobody can guarantee 100% success of the procedure for the rest of the life. Carrying out SHR during a sufficient period of time represents the safest, fastest, most careful and effective method of hair removal nowadays.
